Law enforcement agents advised that the incident took place as the driver of a westbound van was attempting to make a left turn at an intersection. Upon attempting to navigate the turn, the driver reportedly pulled directly into the path of another vehicle. After striking the second vehicle, the van was pushed into the path of a nearby truck, resulting in a chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles in total.
Police have advised that the driver who caused the crash claims he or she did not see the second vehicle prior to the collision. They have also advised that several individuals suffered injuries in the crash and that a passenger in the van was pronounced dead at the scene. Although an investigation into the accident has been initiated, no further information was provided as to whether any other contributing factors were present.
